1000 words (Melissa)

Why do you deserve the friends that you have? The question has stabbed the depths of my mind countless times before, berating me with guilt. There’s some lonely orphan somewhere that really needs your friends to guide him and build him up. What makes you so special? But I guess they could always turn on you at any point in time.
I snapped out of my daze, and continued to get ready. I threw on my brand new hooded shirt. It was black with gray sleeves and it was and extra-small, but it still felt big on my body. It was a cool, autumn day in Orlando, Florida.
“I’m stealing your hat!” I said
“Where are you going?” My roommate asked.
“Melissa and I are going to animal kingdom” I yelled.
“Is that my cologne?” He asked as the door slammed shut.
I jumped in my car and fired up the engine. The car roared of excitement, it hasn’t been out all day. I knew it felt neglected lost and lonely. I gently rubbed the steering wheel saying “I know, know but I’m here now” People think I’m strange for being so grateful to my car, but frankly I believe that my car is the only real friend I have. You have to be careful when it comes to friends because they can turn on you any minute.
I pulled up to the apartment complex and found a parking space close to her building. I whipped out my roommate’s cologne, and sprayed it twice. I thought about a third spray, but the fear of overdoing it caused me to abandon the thought. He knocked on the door and waited for what felt like an eternity. After about twenty minutes he began to question if she was ever going to come out.
It was 3:00pm when the door had finally opened and out came Melissa. She was dressed elegantly, yet casual. Her long brown hair fell gently on her shoulders. Her purple cardigan complimented her pink blouse so perfectly. The one blemish that was barely noticeable was the fact that she was wearing flip flops. One thing about Disney World is that flip flops were not your friend.
“Ok, I’m ready!” She said almost out of breath “Oh wait! One second”
She ran right back into her apartment and one second turned into seven minutes. She came back with a small light brown bag. “Ok now I’m ready”
“Let’s go the line for Dinosaur is only 10min” I said while staring at an app on my phone. This app showed me the wait times for all of the rides and some of the characters in Disney World.
“Are we going to meet characters too or just ride rides?” Melissa asked when we were in the car on our way.
“Oh yea we can meet characters. Which ones do you want to meet?” I asked. Don’t let your guard down she can turn on you!
“Is Daisy in animal kingdom? Oh! I heard Mickey and Minnie are in their Christmas outfits” Melissa said.
Assert yourself “Daisy? No I don’t think she’s there” He lied.
When we arrived at the gates, it felt as though the magic was encompassing us. There was new feel to the air a certain spark in the air. It felt as though I had left the conscious world and entered a new one. Every step was towards a goal, Dinoland.
The dinosaur ride took us on a journey to the past where we explored different types of dinosaurs. We actually ended up being chase and attacked by a Carnotaurus. It was really cool now that I think about it because there was a Styracosaurus that was a vegetarian, and her breath smelled like berries. There were also pesky raptors, I bet you didn’t know that they bite. The most insane part of our dinosaur visit was that Melissa and I were the only ones who went in the time rover and went back in time. The Carnotaurus roared so loud that it knocked my hat off. After we made it back I was so worried because my roommate’s hat was lost and left in the past. He was not going to be happy. I begged and pleaded the head of the Dino-Institute to let me go back to the cretaceous period one more time. I needed to get that hat but they said “No that was an unauthorized mission and it should have never happened!”
Melissa relaxed me saying “Follow me!”
“Where are we going?”
“To get your hat back!”
“B-but?” I said warily.
She offered out her hand and said “Trust me”
I took her hand and she dragged me into a small hut called “Adventurers Outpost”.  Standing right inside were our two favorite mice.
‘Hey Mickey!” I shouted
“Hiya Pal” he replied.
“Minnie!” Melissa said
“Well hello there” Minnie said.
“How are you? I love your Christmas dress, very chic”  Melissa said
“Oh, your too sweet. I like your jacket! Purple is one of my favorite colors” Minnie mentioned. Melissa didn’t have the heart to tell Minnie that her cardigan was Maroon.
“So What brings ya around here?” Mickey asked.
“We just wanted to check up on our favorite mice!” Melissa said
“Oh! The craziest thing happened today! We went on a journey into the past” I began to explain. “We saw so many cool dinosaurs”
“WOW!” Mickey said.
“There was one dinosaur that was huge and blew on us” Melissa said
“Oh, I hope he brushed his teeth” Minnie added
“It smelled like berries” I said “But the craziest part was that I left my hat in the past”
“This hat” Mickey pulled the exact hat from behind his back.
“But How?”
“You learned to trust the friendship that you have with Melissa, when we trust in our friends, anything is possible” Mickey said.
“Wow” I thought to myself, what did I do to deserve such a good friend? “Melissa?”
“Yea?”

“Let’s go find Daisy”
